Meditation for Self-Compassion - Metta Bhavana (Loving-Kindness)

Benefits of Developing Self-Compassion

Hello and welcome!

One of my favourite meditations, and one that has helped me immensely in moving toward more inner peace, is the practice of loving-kindness (Metta Bhavana).

There are many benefits, both for ourselves and others, when we develop more self-compassion.
When we develop compassion for ourselves, we are more able to feel it for others, promoting a healthy level of social connection.

Better social connection is linked to greater health and well-being, and offers:
  • Greater psychological well-being
  • Better physical health
  • Greater immunity
  • Increased strength and resilience
  • Faster recovery from disease
  • Longevity – studies show a 50% increase in longevity for people with a healthy level of social connection.
